Privacy FAQs

What happens when I put someone in Rally?

Rally gives you an action plan and resources to turn them out to vote, and lets the campaign know that that person is covered. That’s it!

When it comes to the people you know and add in Rally, we take guarding that info extremely seriously. Rally does not share the information you input about your contacts with anyone unless you specifically choose to join a campaign and share your information with that campaign. At any time, you can opt to leave a campaign, or delete your Rally account. You can take either action in your account profile.

Rally operates on the principle that you are the best person to talk to the people you know – not a campaign or anyone else. Rally does not ask you for your friends’ phone numbers, email addresses, or any contact information for them. So you can feel secure in knowing that you are not sharing any contact information with Rally or any campaigns that you are a part of.

What does it mean when I match a contact to the voter file?

The voter file is the list of registered voters in the United States. Every state has their own voter file. When you search for your friend in the voter file, we check the files of all 50 states to see if there is a voter registration record matching their info. We match people to the voter file so we know if and where they are eligible to vote, and so that we can provide you with the best resources to rally them to action.

Many campaigns also use voter files to understand who the voters are who they need to reach and track who is being talked to. When you match your friend to the voter file, the campaign you are part of is able to know that you are communicating with that person – so they know who they’ve got covered and what gaps they need to fill.

What happens with my data?

You can choose to share your account information and info about the people you add as contacts in Rally with a campaign or organization by joining a campaign they are running in Rally. When you join a campaign in Rally, you allow the campaign to see the people that you add to Rally, and you enable the campaign to give you action plans, resources, and questions to ask through Rally for the purposes of mobilizing those people. This is so that the campaign can know who you are, that you’re rallying for them, and which voters are being reached through Rally. You can always choose to leave a program and revoke your data. Rally will never share your information with a campaign that you do not choose to join.

Does adding friends to Rally mean I’m signing them up to get contacted?

No. Rally is your tool to track your work and know the next most important action to take. Rally will never ask you for contact information for your friends, or reach out to them on your behalf.
